Institutes of Visva Bharati University

Hindi Bhawan
In an earlier time, it was attached with Vidya Bhawan. In 1938 it was separated from Vidya Bhawan and established as Hindi Bhawan.

Vidya Bhawan
In the past, it was the only institute for post graduation studies. Now, this institute includes the humanities and social science departments, such as the Department of History, Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Economics, Geography etc.

Siksha Bhawan (Institute of Science)
Before the incorporation of the Visva-Bharati as a central university, it used to provide Collegiate education up to the graduation level.

Kala Bhawan
It is the most well-known center of Fine Arts. Abanindranath Tagore, one of India’s most eminent artists was one of its founders and chief patrons. Luminaries such as Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Binode Bihari Mukherjee, Ramkinkar Baij, Dinkar Kaushik, K.G. Subramanyan and Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh have either taught or been students here. There are five departments, such as Paintings, Sculpture, Graphics, Design, History of Art.

Sangeet Bhawan (Institute of Dance, Drama & Music)
It is the center of Dance, Drama, and Music. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore thought… “The complete personality of man seeks for itself quite a different language for the satisfaction of his aesthetic urge”.

China Bhawan( Chinese Study Center)
Founded in 1937. To unite the ancient cultures of two Asian countries was the purpose to establish the Chinabhawa. Sinology Department is the center of Chinese and Tibetian studies and researchers.

Darshan Bhawan
It is the Institute of Philosophy. This department is also well-known for its research and teaching.It is situated in front of the central office.

Nippan Bhawan
It is recently founded by the help of Japanese government and old Japanese students. It is the center of Japanese language and cultures.

Binaya Bhawan
It is the Institute of education.It was founded in1948, September and known as B.T or B.Ed college.

Rabindra Bhawan
In July 1942 it was established to the memory of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. It is mainly the Research Academy and Memorial Museum. Situated in Uttranyana complex, it contains the original manuscript, paintings and personal belongings of Rabindranath. The archive has a Library and research wing.

Agro-Economic Research Centre
In 1954, with the help and encouragement of Food and Agriculture Department of Indian Govt., Agro-Economic Research center was established. It is the research center of rural extension.
